  AI in Music Education

  Exploring artificial intelligence and its applications in music education, integrating core concepts in AI, machine learning, and generative systems with practical musical examples. The course examines how AI models are trained, their possibilities and limitations, and includes a research-informed case study on the automatic assessment of sound production efficiency in instrumental performance, as well as algorithmic and generative AI-based composition. Pedagogical, ethical, and inclusive perspectives are emphasized, positioning AI as a supportive tool for creativity, assessment, and contemporary music teaching practice.

  Music Technology Course MUMT 202: Fundamentals of New Media

  A theoretical and practical introduction to selected areas of music technology. Topics include digital audio and sampling theory, MIDI and sequencing, audio editing and mixing, sound recording, score editing software, and current areas of research interest.

  Focused classes on modern wind instruments pedagogy, combining fundamental performance techniques (e.g., breathing, warm-ups, embouchure and sound production) with innovative teaching strategies and classroom technologies.   Music Technology Course MUMT 203: Introduction to Digital Audio

  An introduction to digital audio and the technologies involved in its practical realization and use in computer music. Topics include audio signals and systems, sampling and quantization, signal encoding, compression, transmission and storage, filters, A/D and D/A conversion, digital audio effects, sound sampling, and synthesis techniques.

  Invited Teaching Artist — Sistema New Brunswick (Moncton & Saint John), Canada

  Music performance and ensemble direction focused on youth music education

  Sistema New Brunswick is a free, intensive after-school orchestral music program for children and youth that uses ensemble music-making as a vehicle for social development. Inspired by the global El Sistema movement, the program emphasizes inclusion, teamwork, and commitment, helping young people build confidence, a sense of belonging, and positive connections within their communities through collective music education.

  A community-based, non-profit cultural organization dedicated to the promotion of music, arts, and local heritage through inclusive education and cultural initiatives.
